Isis is one of the oldest godforms in existence; her history spans thousands of years of active worship. She has many aspects and each one a reflection of the needs and attitudes of those supplicating her at that time. From being a basic goddess of providence to fertility-bringing Great Mother to those of civilizing the people and protecting women and children by encouraging marriage and monogamous commitment.
In modern magickal practises she represents all goddesses from all cultures rolled into one. She is indeed the supreme female deity, her functional scope as wide as her sky-embracing, soul-protecting wingspan. (Llewellyn Publications. 2000)

Elements of Isis

ANIMAL--Swallow, a form she took when searching for her husbands scattered remains.
COLOUR--Maroon, the colour associated with her blood.
SCENT--the Flowering jasmine
STONE--Red Carnellian, believed by the Egyptians to be the most efficacious substance against Magickal assault.
METAL--Electrum, a combination of gold,silver and copper. Used exclusively in the manufacture of only the most sacred ceremonial objects.
WOOD--Cedar, used in the doors and furniture of the temple, believed by the Egyptians to be immune from decay and Magickal destruction.
